Clinic & Services
Asthma, Diabetes, COPD, Stroke and Heart Disease Clinics
These are run by our practice nurses and supported by the doctors, by appointment. Patients with these conditions are routinely recalled for review.
We are committed to helping those patients who smoke and want to stop. Please see/call reception to arrange an appointment with the visiting counsellor. If you are pregnant, ask your midwife about the service for pregnant smokers.
The practice provides a confidential and comprehensive range of family planning (contraceptive) services including implants, coils and emergency contraception. Please feel free to discuss your needs with your doctor or nurse. We also offer screening for Chlamydia and other sexually transmitted infections.
This is provided by arrangement with Dr Wood, who works within the building. We also offer wart treatment and joint injections in the practice.
This clinic is run by our practice nurses every Monday. Appointments are issued automatically from the county computerised appointment system.
Child Health Surveillance / Developmental Checks
These are run by the doctors and the health visitors. Appointments are arranged automatically at the appropriate ages.
We offer a wide range of advice and vaccinations for anyone travelling abroad and the medical centre is a registered yellow fever vaccination centre. Please make appointments for vaccinations with a practice nurse at least 4 weeks before travelling. Some treatments require a fee to be paid.
Cervical Smear Tests
Women aged 25 to 50 years should have a smear every 3 years and those aged 50 to 65 years, every 5 years. This service is offered by our nurses and GPs. Patients are automatically invited to attend when their test is due.
In conjunction with the local midwifery team, the doctors are involved with antenatal and postnatal care with regular clinics on the premises.
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
- Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
- Insurance claim forms
- Passport signing
- Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
- Private sick notes
- Vaccination certificates
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
