Flu Vaccinations

Are you eligible for a flu vaccine? If so you can now book your flu vaccination appointment.

 

You are eligible to receive a free flu jab if you:

  • Are 65 years of age or over
  • Are pregnant
  • Have certain medical conditions
  • Are living in a long-stay residential care home or other long-stay care facility
  • Receive a carer's allowance, or you are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill

 OVER 65’s clinics start 19th September.

 UNDER 65 and at risk clinics start 14th October.

·        Drink enough fluids to avoid feeling thirsty

·        Ask your local pharmacist to recommend medicines to help your symptoms or pain (or both)

·        Fever is a sign the body is fighting the infection and usually gets better by itself in most cases. You can use paracetamol if you or your child are uncomfortable as a result of a fever

·        Use a tissue and wash your hands well to help prevent spread of your infection to your family, friends and others that you meet

Clinic & Services

These are run by our practice nurses and supported by the doctors, by appointment. Patients with these conditions are routinely recalled for review.

Stop Smoking

We are committed to helping those patients who smoke and want to stop. Please see/call reception to arrange an appointment with the visiting counsellor.  If you are pregnant, ask your midwife about the service for pregnant smokers.

Contraceptive Services

The practice provides a confidential and comprehensive range of family planning (contraceptive) services including implants, coils and emergency contraception. Please feel free to discuss your needs with your doctor or nurse. We also offer screening for Chlamydia and other sexually transmitted infections.

Minor Surgery

This is provided by arrangement with Dr Wood, who works within the building. We also offer wart treatment and joint injections in the practice.

This clinic is run by our practice nurses every Monday. Appointments are issued automatically from the county computerised appointment system.

Child Health Surveillance / Developmental Checks

These are run by the doctors and the health visitors. Appointments are arranged automatically at the appropriate ages.

Travel Vaccinations

We offer a wide range of advice and vaccinations for anyone travelling abroad and the medical centre is a registered yellow fever vaccination centre. Please make appointments for vaccinations with a practice nurse at least 4 weeks before travelling. Some treatments require a fee to be paid.

Cervical Smear Tests

Women aged 25 to 50 years should have a smear every 3 years and those aged 50 to 65 years, every 5 years. This service is offered by our nurses and GPs. Patients are automatically invited to attend when their test is due.

Maternity Services

In conjunction with the local midwifery team, the doctors are involved with antenatal and postnatal care with regular clinics on the premises.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

  • non_nhs_services3Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Passport signing
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
